Fleetwood Town (h) – 19/04/16

Fleetwood Town BadgeAfter a 2-1 defeat at Coventry City on Saturday, Millwall play their penultimate home game of the regular season at home to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night. The man simply known as ‘Docs’ provides The View From The Opposition…

Name: Dave, but known as ‘Docs’ to my friends.

First Fleetwood game: Wigan at home in about 1974/75. I went to a few that season, including games against Scarborough, Macclesfield, South Liverpool etc in the Northern Premier League, which was one tier below the Football League at the time.

Greatest moment following Fleetwood: Winning the League Two play-off final at Wembley Stadium and getting into League One.

With four games to go, Fleetwood sit just above the relegation zone. Is that where you expected to be? Do you think you can/will stay up?: I thought we would finish in the bottom 6 this season, so it’s about right. I’m not making any predictions about staying up, but beating our local rivals (Blackpool) next Saturday would help us and be near the top of the list of greatest moments!

Millwall are in 5th, looking set for the play-offs – how do you see their season ending?: I think Millwall will cement a place in the play-offs without too much trouble – our win at home against them earlier in the season was probably our best performance of the season.

Who are Fleetwood’s ‘ones to watch’ on Tuesday night?: Jimmy Ryan has without a doubt been our best player all season and loanee Wes Burns has been decent since his arrival. [Nathan] Pond I’d mention as well, as he has been with us since our North West Counties League days over 10 years ago and has stepped up the levels every season without too much struggle.

Which Millwall players do you think you will need to watch out for?: Lee Gregory – if he plays.

Finally, how do you see the game going?: I think we will have a go early doors, but I’m not sure we will have the quality to get much from the game. I’m looking forward to visiting a new ground – there won’t be many of us, though.

Score Prediction: Millwall 2/3-1 Fleetwood Town.

Dave’s Team Prediction: Maxwell; McLaughlin, Jordan, Pond, Bell; Scougall, Jonsson, Ryan; Sarcevic, Burns, Grant.

Millwall v Fleetwood Town takes place at The Den on Tuesday, April 19th. Kick-off is at 7:45pm.
