Colchester United (a) – 02/04/16

Colchester United BadgeMillwall ensured that they remained in the play-off places on a day where results went against them on Monday, as they defeated table-toppers Burton Albion 2-0. This Saturday, its a short trip to Essex to take on Colchester United. Nathan Tansley takes up ‘The View From The Opposition’…

First Colchester game: A pre-season against Spurs at Layer Road – I can’t remember the year, but it was a long time ago.

Greatest moment following Colchester: Staying up last season, at home to Preston North End – it was such a good feeling leaving it so late; something I can hardly describe.

With just seven games to go, Colchester are rooted in the relegation zone, seven points from safety. Are you doomed to League Two?: It’s going to be very tough to stay up, but after good Easter weekend wins against Doncaster Rovers and Coventry City, we’ve given ourselves a tiny little bit of hope – the players are playing without pressure now, to be honest – no one expects us to stay up. Its one game at a time now.

Millwall went back into 5th position after Monday night’s 2-0 win over Burton Albion – how do you see their season finishing?: I think they will finish in the play-offs and get to the final – it’s just a case of who they get there.

Who are Colchester’s ‘ones to watch’ on Saturday?: At the moment, we have a few who could cause you problems – Gavin Massey and Elliot Lee are in good form, but our two main men are Alex Gilbey & George Moncur. They’re such talented players – both will probably move on to bigger and better clubs at the end of the season.

Which Millwall players do you think your team will need to watch out for?: Anyone who attacks! We ship far too many goals – the worst defence in the country.

Finally, how do you see the game going?: We’ve got a good home record against sides in top 6 at our place this season, so it will be close. I don’t think anyone wants to play us at the moment, as we have nothing to lose.

Score Prediction: Colchester United 2-2 Millwall.

Nathan’s Team Prediction: Parish; Brindley, Eastman, Kent, Shorey; Massey, Garvan, Gilbey, Moncur; Lee; Porter.

Colchester United take on Millwall at the Western Homes Community Stadium this Saturday, April 2nd. Kick-off is at 3pm.
